10%

Partner commission

Lifetime attribution

Your referral code permanently links the client to you. No 90-day windows, no expiry, no matter how long we work with them.

The build-or-refer question

No need to build this capability internally.

Emissions requests are new for many SME advisers. Building an internal capability means employing and training staff, tracking changing requirements and managing assessment workflows, all of it pulling time away from the work your firm already does well. And you may never make those costs back.

A focused specialist, without the overhead

Bring in a specialist for this specific task without adding internal cost, staffing or delivery burden. This is not broad consulting, it's a focused assessment and certificate process.

Everything stays online

Your client completes the process through the online platform. No meetings to attend, no workflow to manage, no specialist hires to justify.

You're rewarded on both sides

Your client receives a discount, your firm receives referral commission on completed engagements, and you keep the relationship that made the referral possible.

Why clients are being asked

Mandatory reporting reaches your client base through their customers.

Australian businesses captured under the climate reporting framework are legally required to report Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions. Supplier emissions form part of Scope 3, so suppliers and contractors are being asked by their largest customers to provide emissions information throughout supply chains.

Group 1 · from 1 Jul 2025

Already reporting

  • $500m+ revenue
  • $1bn+ gross assets
  • 500+ employees
Group 2 · from 1 Jul 2026

This financial year

  • $200m+ revenue
  • $500m+ gross assets
  • 250+ employees
Group 3 · from 1 Jul 2027

Next in line

  • $50m+ revenue
  • $25m+ gross assets
  • 100+ employees

Capture test: an entity is captured when it meets at least two of the three thresholds for its group. The same supplier data requests are also coming from government, semi-government, local councils, procurement groups, major contractors and infrastructure projects. And no supplier is too small: these thresholds apply to your clients' customers, not to your clients. If your client supplies a captured entity, they can be asked, whatever their own size.

The commercial impact

Two kinds of clients. One decision.

Businesses that are unprepared risk:

  • ×Tender exclusion
  • ×Procurement delays
  • ×Supply-chain exclusion
  • ×Loss of contracts and financial pressure
  • ×Competitive disadvantage

Businesses that prepare early:

  • Respond immediately to customer requests
  • Strengthen procurement readiness
  • Win work against unprepared competitors
  • Protect valuable commercial relationships
  • Reduce future disruption and financial stress

Partner questions, answered straight

What advisers ask us.

If yours isn't here, the partner information pack covers the full terms.

Will the client remain our client?

Yes. The adviser remains the primary client relationship, now and forever. Your referral code identifies you throughout the process and attribution never expires. Less Carbon is designed to support and enhance that relationship, not replace it.

How does the referral process work?

Partners give clients a unique referral code. The client enters it during the online process, which applies their 10% discount and automatically tracks your commission.

What does the partner receive?

10% referral commission on completed engagements, paid quarterly in arrears. Plus client discount capability, automatic referral tracking and access to referral and co-branded material.

Why are SMEs suddenly being asked for emissions information?

Reporting businesses are now legally required to report emissions across their supply chains, which means suppliers and contractors are increasingly being asked to provide emissions information and supplier emissions certificates.

Why is this relevant if our clients don't report directly to government?

Because their major customers are legally required to collect Scope 3 supplier emissions information to meet their own reporting, procurement and supply-chain obligations.

Does this affect sole operators and smaller businesses?

Yes. This increasingly affects businesses of all sizes, including sole operators, subcontractors, trades, consultants and SMEs supplying larger organisations.

Why wouldn't we just build this capability internally?

Building internal emissions capability requires expenditure, time, training, staffing and ongoing management for a specialised area many firms may never recover the cost of. Referral gives your clients a specialist process without the overhead.

Is Less Carbon a consulting or advisory service?

No. The platform is a focused, online assessment and certification process, not a broad ESG or sustainability consulting engagement. We're not after your clients.
